What a wash out this month has been! So disappointing for riders, owners and organisers to have so many events across the country cancelled. A friend of ours drove 7 hours (350 miles) only to find the event had been cancelled on arrival – nightmare.
Thankfully we did manage a few before the rain hit. Jaganath (Jack) made the advanced at Weston Park feel like a pony club track effortlessly cruising round the cross country to finish 4th with one of the fastest cross country times of the day (below left).

Sea Summer Bay (Paddy) notched up his 5th double clear of the season and a 3rd rosette at Sapey with a stunning dressage mark of 26.5. He’s really found hisform this season and yet we know there’s still loads of improvement to come.
Chantry Talland Bay (Reilly) and Treloar (Theo) also put in solid double clear performances at Sapey, Wallaby (Wally) was a little ahead of himself in the first two phases so a steady cross country round was needed to gently remind him who was in charge.
I had a great day with the organisers of Blenheim Horse Trials taking part in a photoshoot with a young girl who’d won a competition to design her own show jump (see above right). There were lots of pictures of us on Facebook and Twitter although they managed to chop me off the photograph in the Oxford Times. Still Jack made the front page!
It was pretty frustrating that Withington was cancelled, both for the novice horses on the Saturday and the advanced horses on the Sunday. And with Badminton cancelled this weekend it’s not looking very promising for Broadway.
Let’s hope it dries out for Aston-le-Walls as there’s only so much spring-cleaning and prepping we can do….
