January 2012

It’s been good to get out and about again – as well as hunting, we’ve been doing lots of dressage and show jumping practice. The mild weather this January has really helped the going and the horses have been enjoying their fast work (although as we’re writing this it has just starting snowing!).

Allens Hill has a really useful training set up, so it was a nice first outing for Victoria Richards’ lovely young horse Treloar (Theo). His stable mate Dukono (Poof) has also been out to Solihull with some of the other young horses to do ‘arena XC’ before the real thing in March.

We had a really informative and fun day with Dengie, one of our sponsors. The team came to the yard to weigh all the horses and look at their diets to make sure they’re all getting the right balance.

Dengie has also selected four of Team Jackson’s horses to follow on their website, Facebook and Twitter this season. They’ll be focusing on the horses’ condition and progress throughout the season and posting updates – so make sure you’re all signed up.

I’ve also had some fantastic flat lessons with Charlotte Dujardin – the new golden girl of GB dressage. She’s really motivating to work with and Direct Mission (Arden), Kangasong (Joey) and Billy Be Cool (BBC) have noticeably come on since the session a couple of weeks ago.

Finally, we’d like to give a warm welcome to a new member of the team – Rhiannon (Kettle) has just started with us having previously worked at a hunting yard near Northleach.
